The social programme gave the participants a taste of Japanese culture and proved to be a fascinating experience. The opening cocktail included a sushi-making demonstration by Ken Kawasumi, who has no equal, when it comes to making a decorated makizushi. An evening at the ZAUO "Fishing" restaurant gave the IACR another flavour, as representatives from the five regions were invited to compete in a contest, “fishing in Five Continents” won by Africa!
